Lower Elementary Principal Ashley Colley and Lower School Athletic Director Jason Redd join Equip to talk about how they see God moving at our Forest Hill campus with our Little Eagles through fifth graders. Hear how discipleship is being cultivated through the “New City Catechism”, which students are walking through, and how athletics enhances the Lower School student experience. 

101: Faith Formation in Early Childhood Education

ECS Director of Curriculum Alignment & Worldview John Grant joins Equip to define “faith formation” and talk about how formation is being pursued with our Lower School students. Find out how practices such as First Five discipleship and studying the New City Catechism are encouraging students to know Jesus and grow closer to God.

100: “Deuteronomy 6-ing” Our Families

Donna Gaines, author, Bible teacher, and wife of Bellevue Baptist Church’s Executive Pastor Dr. Steve Gaines was on campus for our ECS Partnering with Parents Speaker Series “Mentoring Moms” luncheon. She continued the conversation with us on Equip as she discussed the importance of setting God’s Word as the foundation of our families and live out what we read in Deuteronomy 6 with our children.

Our College Counseling Team shares about the “College Process Roadmap” that they guide students through to set them up for success beyond ECS. Director of College Counseling Tina Greene and Associate Director of College Counseling Alicia Armes lets us know the process starts a lot sooner than you may think.

97: Accreditation Celebration

Assistant Headmaster for Academics and Academic Dean Jenny Shorten joins Equip to share some good news about ECS being accredited by two prominent education organizations. She lets us know how the accreditation benefits students and recognizes teachers for the impact they are making in the classroom. 

94: Steve Collums Classic

Steve Collums sons, Joey & Nathan, join us from the annual golf tournament fundraiser, which honors their father’s passion for ECS and Christian education. They share how the love of the ECS community has impacted them and celebrate the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised in tuition assistance over the years to make Christian education more affordable.

92: Raising Emotionally Strong Children

Family counseling expert and author David Thomas was our special guest on campus September 12 to kick-off our Dads Discipleship effort. While at ECS he joined Equip to discuss the role dad’s have in their children’s lives and what we can do as parents to help our kids develop emotional strength.

91: What “Steadfast” Looks Like

Fine Arts Department Chair and Chief Memory Maker David Butler shares with us the creative process he went through in imagining the art for “Steadfast,” this year’s theme inspired by I Corinthians 15:58. Find out how pillars in the ECS community and their steadfast faith were celebrated through David’s art.

90: Legacy of Steve Collums Celebrated Through Annual SCC

The legacy of one of the pillars of the ECS community lives on through the Steve Collums Classic golf tournament. Blake Dickens, ’98, and P.J. Tashie, ’02, co-chairmen of the tournament since its inception, join Equip to share how the Christ-like example set by Collums shaped their lives and why this even is special. They tell us how we can get in on the fun September 26, and how funds raised impact ECS students needing tuition assistance.
